Civil War Front Line. Eibar Sector.

In this guide we propose a tour of the most iconic interesting parts of Eibar, Arrate and the Civil War Interpretation Centre in Eibar, where you can see many of the key elements involved in the battles waged from late September 1936 until 26th April 1937, the date on which Franco’s troops entered Eibar. The display has the objective of recalling the harsh events lived in the mountains around Eibar, where terrible battles were fought.
During the visit, scan the QR code on the panel and access extended information with more photographs and audio explanations of the events.
In the iconic Arrate Colony building different materials will give you a clear and summarised idea of what happened in the Eibar Sector during the Civil War. To do this, the elements displayed include dummies wearing uniforms, the weapons used, photographs, models of the time, emblems, permits, flags, identification documents, etc.
The very surroundings of the Centre are intended to convey through its darkness the harshness of the war and the harsh living conditions that the combatants on both sides had to suffer. In fact, the positions located in Akondia were only 82 metres apart, which is why it was recognised as the toughest position of the war in the Basque Country.
